Mug shot no. 7

I'm back again this grey Tuesday with another experimental original illustration for the mug shot series. I think that today's is one of my faves so far.
Unfortunately trying to take a photo of this little fella this morning has proved to be a challenge as the sun is hiding. Its been tricky trying to capture the illustration's true colours, so below are two photos of the original and hopefully between them they'll almost do it justice.

Name: Gunter
Age: 17
Favourite colours: Lime green
Favourite food: Pine nuts and fish
Favourite quote: 'Those who don't believe in magic will never find it' - Roald Dahl.

If you'd like to snap up a one off print and the original pencil drawing pictured below then...

...to be included in giveaway draw either share the giveaway via Facebook or Twitter & any entries will be put in a hat & picked at random this weekend.  Then the winner will be announced next Tuesday.
Congratulations to Shauna for winning Dimble the wombat!!

Folksy Friday - Spectrum lovelies

Inspired by a rainbow I saw peering through the clouds earlier this week I thought it was about time for a spectrum themed showcase of some of the lovely things Folksy has to offer.
This is a rainbow selection with a difference, as rather than picking items that use all the colours instead I've chosen to dedicate one item to each colour in Isaac Newton's  sevenfold spectrum - red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo and violet .
Thinking about it this attention to detail might suggest that I have too much time on my hands. So before I continue, I can assure you I don't, and rather this just proves how committed I am to the blogging cause and bringing you a pretty post :)

Just while we're on the topic of spectrums - does anyone else who uses a Mac, when the rainbow spinning wheel timer thingy comes up -

feel the need to place it somewhere amusing on the screen i.e. over the nose of a celebrity or someone who might be on your screen at the time. You know to create a sort of clown? ..... Just me?
If not you should try it sometime I find it serves no end of amusement....
Ahem, yeah ok I think we'll leave it there.

Mug shot no 6

Somehow i'm just about managing to keep up-ish with creating these little original illustrations, even if its not quite every week. Although saying that, i'm only planning to do two more after this one as I need to spend any future spare time working on illustrations for the story & something else in the pipeline which i'll let you know about in the next couple of weeks.
I've had a lot of fun creating these & its reminded me how much I love painting with gouache which is now my go-to medium of choice. Having learnt a lot doing this little project i really wish i had the time to keep it up permanently.
Heres today's painting of Dimble the wombat:

Name: Dimble
Age: 4
Favourite colours: Silver
Favourite food: Mushrooms
Favourite quote: 'Everything has beauty, but not everyone can see it' - Confucius.

As always theres a giveaway, so if you'd like to be the only person in the world to own a one off print and the original pencil drawing pictured below read on -

To be included in the giveaway draw either share the giveaway via Facebook or Twitter & any entries will be put in a hat & picked at random this weekend.  Then the winner will be announced next Tuesday.

Excuses, excuses

Uh oh slapped wrists, I neglected the drawing duties this weekend necessary to bring you today’s mugshot feature. Congratulations by the way to Bethan for winning last week's giveaway.

The excuse is I swapped the art for a day’s white water kayaking on Sunday so I don’t have a lot to offer today in terms of new artwork.
On the plus side however I do have some pics to share from the rapid fun on Sunday, courtesy of go-pro photographer & film-maker extraordinaire Laura from the canoe club:

Also as an extra here is an ace little vid of a section of the run. I'm the one in a red boat with a blue helmet and buoyancy aid, and if you are intrigued and want to see yours truly in action then you can catch me at the beginning (paddling away from camera) & also at 8.30 ish.
Oh and if for some reason you can't watch the video below then heres a link to it on Facebook.

A sound explosion

Ooo looky a new illustration!
This ones a double page spread image for the story i've written i've also included a close up of each side so you can see a bit of the detail:

It took an age to put all the sound noises in, but i think i'm finally happy with it...that is until i spot something else to tweak.
Thats all from me today. Over and out!

Mug shots no. 5

I had a chance over the weekend to keep my hand in with some painting practice and do another original illustration.
After seeing the photo of Salvidor Dali taking his pet anteater out for a stroll in Paris I was inspired to do an anteater for today's new mug shot illustration and here he is -

Name: Archibald
Age: 12
Favourite colours: Fire ant red
Favourite food: Big juicy termites with a dash of salt
Favourite quote: 'Ridicule is nothing to be scared of' - Adam Ant.

Another mug shot painting means another giveaway woo hoo!!
If you don't already know how it works - i'll be giving away a signed one off print and the original pencil drawing pictured below to anyone who wants it -

As usual to take part all you need to do is share the giveaway via Facebook or Twitter & any entries will be put in a hat & picked at random this weekend.  Then the winner will be announced new Tuesday.
Which just leaves me to say congratulations Sabrina for winning last week's red panda print aka Howie.
