This one is for you font fans!
As a lover of typographical imagery and someone who loves discovering new typefaces I'm very excited about this week's Folksy Friday - a font special inspired by a logo i'm currently working on for Stella My Star.
Has
anyone seen that 'Font or Cheese' app on the i-phone? It's a silly
little game which comes up with either the name of a font or cheese and
as I'm sure you're already guessed you have to say which you think it
is. I discovered this on a friend's phone the other day, not being an
i-phone owner myself. Being both a cheese addict and font fan I did
pretty good!
Hmm i think my favourite typeface is Verdana...or maybe Helvetica, or Orator or Courier New...oh i don't know there are too many to choose. Whats you favourite?

Light The Way
Been non-stop today updating and listing new items on my Folksy and Etsy shops. I've listed two new cards, designed a few weeks ago using some of my Graphics Takeaway images:
Plus after posting yesterday about my new work in progress i'm chuffed to say that i've managed to finish it off today. So below is my latest illustration 'Light The Way', which is also now available on Folksy and Etsy as an A4 or A3 print. I'm really pleased with how its turned out, hope you like it too.

One on it's way
A few weeks ago on the train back down South to my folk's house I had a flash of inspiration for a new illustration. Not quite sure where it came from, particularly as it has no connection with trains, but perhaps the boredom of a lone train journey sent my imagination into overdrive as it served as decent entertainment in the absence of a good book.
Actually I suppose it was kind of born of an old idea I had to do an illustration which featured manta-rays - amazing creatures which look like they're flying under water. So that idea became this sketch that i was able to do as the starting point of my image last week:
I'm nearly finished this piece now, so perhaps tomorrow evening it will be done and i can reveal the completed image.
Just got back from a few days away and i'm itching to get stuck back in, so i'm off now to do some more work on it. Not that i'm a work-aholic or anything ;-)

Back to it
Uh oh! Don't look now, but its that dreaded time of the year when the summer holidays are coming to an end as its
back to the usual hard graft. I must admit though, as a kid I was always
excited about the 'back to school' bit because it meant going shopping
for some new stationery additions. As sad as that sounds I was uplifted
by the prospect of a new ring binder or notebook or maybe if i was
really lucky a new pencil case *gasp*. I've always been a bit of a
stationery freak though!
If you've got the back to work/school blues here are some fab items that may offer you some solace in the post-holiday period:
House your pens:
Lovely notebooks:
A trio of satchels:
On another positive note its a bank holiday weekend - woo hoo!! The holidays aren't over yet. Have a good one.
Oh and got a new illustration coming v soon, so look forward to sharing it with you next week :)

New graphics in store
Boo!
Just a little post today to plug some new images i've created for my Graphics Takeaway shop on Etsy.
I thought i would get in early for a change and do some Halloween images rather than leaving it until a few weeks before & quickly realising that everyone's crafty Halloween needs have already been tended to :)
I'm trying to build up a big collection of graphicy goodness but with other work and general life stuff i've not been able to be as productive as I would have liked. Still slowly but surely i'm adding to the Graphics Takeaway collection and i have another clip art set planned which hopefully i'll get round to doing soon.
Anyway here is my Fright Night clip art set in good time for All Hallows' Eve:

Picture Book Illustrations
Sorry for not posting much this week, but i had some difficult news on Monday so its been a hard few days and sometimes there are, even for me a self-confessed work-a-holic, more important things than work.
Anyway last week I managed to complete the commission to do some illustrations for a lady who has written a wonderful little story for a picture book, which I originally mentioned in my blog post here: http://lucyfarfort.blogspot.co.uk/2012/07/non-post.html
As this book is unpublished I still can't really give you any information on the story itself or the title but I can reveal to you these further two illustrations created for it.
Hope you like them. Just to let you know i won't be doing a Folksy Friday post tomorrow as i'm away down south for the weekend. All being well i hope to be back blogging on Tuesday.
